Review of Directory Dominator (Directory Submission Software)
While a relatively light offering in terms of features and
applications, Directory Dominator has two things going for it: ease of use (largely because of
the aforementioned lack of features), and an 8-week money back guarantee. On the downside,
fewer directories onboard and no ability to handle multiple, rotating website titles and descriptions
hurts this product. There are other problems, as well. Let's run the details.
Directory Dominator - Getting Started:
You're given the option of either downloading a free "demo" copy of Directory Dominator, or purchasing the software upfront. Go with the free "demo"
download. It limits you to only 10 directories, but you'll get the chance to see firsthand if this product is
worth the $67.00 asking price.
User instruction is limited to a "Quick Start" guide which amounts to a single page on the company's website.
That, and the obligatory [help] menu on the program itself. Read the "Quick Start" guide: it explains how to set up
a profile page (the details of your website) and how to submit to directories.
Directory Dominator - Here's What We Like:
- It's easy to use. We suspect this product will have an appeal to the novice website developer,
someone looking for the least sophisticated way (read: least learning required) to get a website submitted
to a few directories.
- Money-back guarantee. The company offers an 8-week, money-back guarantee of satisfaction. That's
always reassuring.
- Free directory updates on a regular basis.
- Pricing, at $29.95 is reasonable, if you can live without useful features of say,
SubmitEaze.
Directory Dominator - Here's What We Didn't Like:
- Fewer directories = fewer backlinks. Directory Dominator includes 1145+ directories upon
purchase of their software. While that's more than some (for example, Directory Site Submitter with a scant 500 directories), it's considerably fewer
than SubmitEaze, which offers 2,400 free directories and a total of more
than 4,400 directories.
- No sorting of directories. Directories are listed alphabetically, but that's the extent of their
organization. Unlike SubmitEaze, which lists (and lets you sort) their 4,400 directories by Google
PageRank, Alexa Traffic Rank, and Incoming Backlink count.
- No ability to set up rotating title text and description text for each project. You get one shot at
title text and one shot at description text for each project. While this might seem to make life easy for some
users, it means that each directory will be posting the identical title and description of your website, giving
Google a potential reason to discount a large portion of your submissions for "duplicate content."
- We're never impressed by a company's reliance on gimmickry to hurry a purchase decision. In this
case, it's the following... "Notice: Due to the oversaturation of some software
currently sold on the market today, we are selling a limited supply of software licenses. We want users to get
the maximum value from the software. This offer may be discontinued or the price may increase at any time
without notice."
- Please.
In summary, Directory Dominator offers a modest value, at best, in directory submission
software. Geared for the novice, it's an easy program to learn and a safe one--given the 8-week money-back
guarantee. But our feeling is that once that novice gains a better understanding of
the value of directory submission in an overall SEO (search engine optimization)
program, the sparkle of "easy" wears off and he or she will be looking for a product with more
advanced features and associated benefits.
Our recommendation is to pony up a few additional bucks and go with SubmitEaze. (Read our SubmitEaze Review and judge for
yourself.)
But for those who are still inclined...
