Review of Directory Submitter (formerly Link Directory Submitter)

Does most everything you want in a directory submission program, from rotating titles and descriptions to submission history reports -- with a couple of pleasant software surprises. The pricing is reasonable ($67.00) and there are a large number of free directories included. That said, we've been spoiled by a couple of really nice features on our Top Pick, SubmitEaze, that are lacking here.

Let's run the details. 

Directory Submitter - Getting Started:

From the home page, you can purchase the product immediately via PayPal (it comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee of satisfaction), or download the free demo. Go with the latter so you can kick the tires and give the program a good test drive before opening your wallet. For help in downloading and opening the program, there's a handy video tutorial accessible from the home page. In particular, the one marked "Installing the Link Directory Submitter for the first time."

The four other video tutorials are certainly worth viewing, especially "The Link Directory Submitter Interface" and "Adding a Website Profile into the Link Directory Submitter."

Link Directory Submitter - Here's What We Really Like:

• Large list of quality, free directories. At last count, Directory Submitter provides over 5000 website directories (all of these are free directories--no reciprocal link required, no payment required).
• Each directory is listed by Google PageRank; you can prioritize, sort and submit to the directories you want.
• Ability to set up multiple title text and description text for each project. The title and description text then rotates automatically with each directory submission. This helps ensure your link building looks natural.
• Pleasant Surprise #1: Multi-tabbed browsing lets you run up to 10 browsers simultaneously within the submitter. As you submit to one directory, others are loading in the additional tabs--increasing the speed of your submission process.
• Pleasant Surprise #2: Directory crawler searches all directories in the list and identifies the ones that have approved your website--identifying them as "approved" automatically.
• Add your own directories and customize their configurations.

Directory Submitter - Here's What We Didn't Like:

• No submission capabilities to article directories.
• No automatic CAPTCHA recognition capabilities.
• No automatic email confirmation utility.

In summary, this bad boy comes with significant bells and whistles and a substantial directory list. To be honest, this product was only nudged out of the Top Pick for two reasons. SubmitEaze (our Top Pick) had a greater feature list overall--including CAPTCHA recognition capabilities and auto email processing--and offered the additional option of submitting your articles to 1000+ article directories. Plus, we simply liked the SubmitEaze interface a bit better. Admittedly, that's subjective. (Read our SubmitEaze Review and judge for yourself.)

Still, we had no trouble placing Directory Submitter near the top of our list of directory submission software products. With 30 days to try with no risk or obligation, Directory Submitter should be high on your short list of software candidates.
